Webcasting using IP Cameras
An IP camera uses the local network for transmitting video instead of using analog cables. The elimination of analog cables would improve video quality. The problem with these cameras is expense, complexity, and inflexible software.
An IP camera system needs to:
- emulate a single camera output while switching between multiple cameras
- output analog video to VCRs and/or DVDs
- send a UDP protocol digital stream to a server (so we can loose a few packets without crashing)
- cut in mid-webcast and begin writing an archive file in either WMV or FLV formats
- be easy to run
- be reasonably affordable
